About

Hi, I'm Bhavana.
I'm a counselling psychologist with an MA in Psychology from Banaras Hindu University, and I offer online therapy to people across India through Sthairyam, my private practice. Sessions are held over video in English, Hindi, or a mix of the two.
Reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step. It can be confusing, scary, even overwhelming. Here, you will be heard, understood, and supported. My goal is to provide a calm, safe space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace, without judgment.
Whether you're navigating stress, anxiety, low mood, relationship challenges, or just feeling stuck, I'm here to walk with you and help you feel a little lighter, clearer, and more in control of your life.
Why I do this
My motivation
I'm passionate about helping people feel heard, understood, and supported. I believe that mental health is just as important as physical health. Every person changes and grows over time, and our thoughts, feelings, and actions are all connected. What we think affects how we feel, what we feel affects what we do, and what we do shapes how we think and feel. In therapy, my role is to help you notice these patterns, understand them, and find ways to feel more in control, supported, and at peace with yourself.
My motivation comes from a simple belief: everyone deserves to be heard, understood, and supported. I've faced moments in life where things felt confusing or overwhelming, and I know how heavy that can feel. It guides me to see people gain clarity, notice patterns in their thoughts and feelings, and take small steps toward feeling more in control and at peace with themselves.
For me, therapy isn't just a profession. It's about walking alongside someone as they navigate life's challenges.

Who I work with
The people who come here
Most of my work is with adults across India who are managing anxiety and stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, burnout, questions of self-worth, or a period of change that has unsettled more than they expected. Some arrive in real distress. Many are functioning perfectly well on the outside and are simply tired of carrying something alone.
I see individuals, and I also work with couples and families where the difficulty sits between people rather than inside one person. You can read what each area of work involves on how I can help.
You do not need a diagnosis, a crisis, or a tidy explanation to begin. Wanting to understand yourself better is reason enough.
The practice
How my sessions actually run
- —All sessions are online, over video, so you can attend from anywhere in India.
- —Sessions run up to 60 minutes, usually weekly to begin with, and the frequency is reviewed as things change.
- —Sessions are held in English, Hindi, or a comfortable mix of the two.
- —Individual, couple and family sessions are available.
- —Every new client starts with a free 15 to 20 minute discovery call, with no obligation to continue.
- —Between sessions you can message me if you get stuck on an exercise. I reply when I can, though not instantly.
- —What you share stays confidential, with the narrow legal and safety exceptions set out in the privacy policy.
Scope & boundaries
What I don't do
Being clear about the limits of this work is part of doing it responsibly. As a counselling psychologist, I do not prescribe medication and I do not provide psychiatric diagnosis. Where medication or a psychiatric assessment would serve you better, I will say so and suggest a referral instead of taking the booking.
This is also not a crisis or emergency service, and I am not available between sessions for urgent support. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, please contact Tele-MANAS on 14416, KIRAN on 1800-599-0019, or emergency services on 112.
I will not promise you a particular outcome. What I can commit to is a confidential space, an evidence-informed approach, and an honest conversation with you about whether the work we are doing is helping.
I want this space to feel like a hand extended, not a lecture. If you're ready to take the first step, I offer a free 15 to 20 minute discovery call so we can connect, discuss your needs, and see if therapy with me feels like the right fit.
You don't have to have it all figured out. Just starting this conversation is enough.
